Sandhill Crane and Vermilion Flycatcher
We are enjoying a Sandhill Crane who has decided to stay a while in the fields below our place, adjacent to Verde River.

Also a Vermilion Flycatcher still there.

VEFLs seem remarkably numerous in the irrigated greenbelts this year. A couple fo weeks ago I saw at least 8 individuals while driving around and I know where a few more over-winter.

Whereabouts is the crane being seen and does it have any bands? Years ago there were several banded birds that made regular stopovers in the Verde and I recall seeing one at Mormon Lake also.
