Volunteers wanted for prairie dog relocation
Habitat Harmony is joining with EN3 and APS in a relocation project at the site where APS is building a renewable energy substation with solar array.
There will be a Volunteer Meeting at 3 PM on Wednesday June 22. Please plan to attend to learn more about the relocation and sign up to participate in trapping and release. The meeting will beheld at the APS site which is immediately south of the East Valley Baptist Chruch on highway 89 N. Since the meeting is on the capture site, please wear closed-toe shoes and socks, long pants, hat, gloves, shirt with long sleeves and us insect spray around the bottom of your pants. In addition to learning about capturing and releasing prairie dogs, we will assemble the traps and place them next to the burrows. There are jobs to be done to prepare for the relocation before June 22 so please contact Tish (tish@uneedspeed.net or 606-0882) or Emily (sparrow_jane@hotmail.com or 724-464-8758) if you can help between now and June 22. As Emily Nelson said in Habitat Harmony's relocation proposal "This cooperation between APS, EN3 and Habitat Harmony Inc. marks a good first step in addressing the impact of development on habitat and wildlife, and finding solutions to mitigate losses."
