There's only one thing everyone needs to remember in this discussion: I'm right :>)

As regards the woodpecker photo please note the severe wear of the flight feathers evident in the photo (unlike the crow). Also I would bet this photo is of a bird in August when it is in heavy molt not February. Oh, yeah, and I would also like to point out that this bird's old feathers, the brown ones, are brown to begin with!

Cool! Not sure I have ever seen such a thing in this species. Pigment deficiencies/aberrations seem to be less frequent in ravens than in crows??

There was a brown ♂ raven for some time at Cliff Castle Casino in Rimrock. Someone sent me (film) photos of him, paired with a typical ♀.

The raven photo was taken at the Beaver Creek Golf Course in Lake Montezuma--about 4 miles away from the casino as the raven flies.
