slow news day...Black-chinned Hummingbird
With the return of the Rufous Hummingbirds, of which I now have several in my yard, I've been paying more attention to my feeders and noticed that I have a rather sheepish male Black-chinned Hummingbird coming in to feed regularly. I suspect he's been here all summer amidst the Broad-tailed and occasional Anna's Hummingbirds. I had a BCHU all last summer as well, and it seems just a bit on the edge (East Flagstaff, 7000 feet) of where they are regularly expected during the breeding season.

I also have a black-chinned hummer coming in several times a day. It's a male. I haven't seen a female. I live north of the Medical Center. The first rufous of the summer arrived several days ago. Broad-tails are regulars. Occasionally a female will come. She tends to come close to my face. Maybe she sees her reflection in my glasses. I also have had both a female and a juvenile male Anna's but no adult males. However, my neighbor had a male in her yard several weeks ago.
