Late-ish Migrants @ Elden Spring
On a short walk today near Elden Spring, Glo & I saw a bright male Townsend's Warbler, an Orange-crowned Warbler, and an unidentifiable (to us) Empid. Seems like it's getting on the late side for all three.

In the same area we also had a Brown Creeper, lots of R-c Kinglets (I would have said "tons," but how many kinglets does it take to make a ton?), and the usual year-round residents.

RE: Late-ish Migrants @ Elden Spring
It looks like Ruby-crowned kinglets weigh in at about 6.5 grams, meaning it would take 153,846 of them to make a metric ton. That sounds like a bit of a high count for Elden Spring, but I suppose anything is possible. :-)

Over the years I've had Townsend's and Orange-crowned Warblers into the 3rd week of October (and also Wilson's, Yellow-rumped and last year an American Redstart that late) . Your Empid is later (by 1 day) than any record I have for the group. Certainly we are on the very tail end of migration for warblers and flycatchers!

I was unable to turn up much action around Elden Spring this morning. Oregon, Pink-sided and Gray-headed Juncos were in abundance, along with Ruby-crowned Kinglets. The only notable bird was a Green-tailed Towhee - my latest sighting of this species by more than 3 weeks in the Elden Spring vicinity.
