Black-throated Blue Warbler-Camp Verde
Today at 4 p.m. there was a BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER feeding on old pears in the (unsigned) Ft. Lincoln Subdivision off Salt Mine Road south of Camp Verde.   Big Grin

The house with the exotic pear tree is on Vista Drive, the second house on the left, on the north side of the road, just before you cross the irrigation ditch.  The bird was feeding on pears both in the tree and on the roof.  With plenty of fruits there it may stick around for few days?

Wow and awesome! The only other Verde record I have is from Camp Verde in ... Nov. 1988!

Oh, very cool to know Roger!  On eBird it looks like the 5th sighting in the County since 2005.  So FUN to have this bird I've drooled over in guidebooks, and dreamed of seeing show up right in my neighborhood.  Smile

Multiple birders tried for this bird this morning, Sunday, January 29 with no luck.  We'll check again this afternoon.  hpk

1. holly kleindienst found a BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER about 6 days ago on vista road in camp verde (off salt mine road). we stopped there on our way home yesterday and after only 40 minutes the bird showed in same yard and was very cooperative. it eats pears from a pear tree on far end of house 2nd lot on left. at least a couple days it has been seen late afternoon. so it has been there for 6 days although it has been hit and miss.
2. holly also reports a YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER somewhere futher on vista road.
3. holly tells me there has also been a GOLDEN EAGLE and a FERRUGINOUS HAWK in the area of the black-throated blue warbler. 4 good birds in that area!!!

Exciting new update!  This warbler is now a backyard bird that is repeatedly feeding at our suet feeder this afternoon and evening along with the usual Orange-crowned Warbler and Yellow-rumped Warblers.  Our back yard is about 3 acres from the original sighting as the crow flies.
Send me a message on this site if you want to try for the bird in our yard.  Best birds all!  hpk

Good news for you Holly!

I struck out at the original site today from 12:45-2:30PM.

I did see a lot of good consolation prize birds, however, including the Ferruginous Hawk & Golden Eagle.

Nice close-up views of a Red-tailed Hawk, as well.

As of today, Thursday 2/9/17, the warbler has not been seen for two consecutive days.  It may have moved on.  hpk
