Varied Thrush
I was driving on FR 514 (north of the Peaks) this morning with my crew to do some fieldwork in the Indian Flat area. At approximately UTM coordinate 444272, 3923318 (NAD83) we had a bright male Varied Thrush fly directly across the road in front of our vehicle. I had a great, clear look at it as we were driving maybe 15 mph because of the road condition. The black breast band, black stripe on the face and the rufous stripe on the top of the wings were clearly visible. I'm familiar with this species as they were a common yard bird at our house in Portland, OR.  I wasn't able to stop and try to relocate the bird. For some reason my crew isn't as interested in birds as I am Huh
