Feather Ball ID
A friend was walking a game trail last week near Scholz Lake west of Garland Prairie and found the object in the photos below. All the feathers appeared to be attached to a central gristle-like point which created a pinwheel affect. Any thoughts on 1) what species it's from and 2) what part of the bird it came from?

Doesn't look downy enough for waterfowl.  I would say breast feathers rather than back feathers.  Land bird candidates (based on last time I was out there) would be chickadee or junco.  Color leans toward junco.
