Zone-tail Hawk Lake Montezuma
It would seem an unusual date for a Zonie.
Late, early, or overwintering?
I got a very good look so I'm sure it wasn't a  TV or Black Hawk.

RE: Zone-tail Hawk Lake Montezuma
Its that cusp time where it is hard to tell what is wintering and what is early. The definitions have become even more blurred by climate advances over the last decade. There are local winter ZTHA records, but it also getting close to the spring window. Turkey vultures could arrive in a couple of weeks and its not too unreasonable to speculate on "day trippers" from the low desert coming up to the mid-elevations on exploratory forays.
