New Yardbird!
A totally unexpected new yard bird today, 6/17/18, 7:20PM...a Painted Redstart!

It ended up taking a quick bath in my fountain.

Very low light, but I managed to document the event with a few pics.

I had one in my yard in east Flag this week too. I figured that it wandered down from the Elden Spring area, where there are often 1-2 Painted Redstarts in summer. But, maybe this is post-breeding dispersal from more regular breeding areas (Oak Creek, etc.)?

I do know that they breed at Griffith Springs off 89a, which is just a few minutes and a few miles from my West Flagstaff yard.

I have wondered for quite sometime if maybe I would get one of them in my yard someday.

Perhaps this is one of those?
