Help with Hawk ID
I live in Longmont Colorado now, but there are no good sources for bird ID here. I had this hawk in the top of a Cottonwood Tree out my front door this morning, but am not sure what it is. I was thinking a Rough Legged, but it looks too small for that and I have never seen face markings like this before. Any ideas?

RE: Help with Hawk ID
Harlan's hawk is a possibility, but I think the small bill, extensive white in the face, mottled rather than streaked breast, and pale band in the tail are good for RLHA.

RE: Help with Hawk ID
Thanks! That is what I suspected, but I thought it appeared too small and those markings really threw me. Appreciate it!
