VVBF field trip to Picture Canyon
I led a group of 15 into Picture today for the Verde Valley Bird Festival. Although we had 42 species, I found it generally pretty slow. I can't report anything of interest except maybe the Belted Kingfisher that was there yesterday on my scouting trip.

Seems like passarine arrivals are late this year.

RE: VVBF field trip to Picture Canyon
My experience is that land-birding above the rim in April requires a high tolerance for painfully slow days. ;-)
That said, on my run this morning I noticed a massive uptick in bird activity along the base of Mt. Elden relative to a few days ago. Also, I had my FOY Red-faced Warbler at Double Springs yesterday morning.
