Mormon Lake: Horned Grebe
Viewable from the southern shoreline of Mormon Lake this morning was an alternate-plumaged Horned Grebe swimming among many Eared Grebes, which made fantastic comparison. Horned Grebe is sparse anywhere in AZ, especially away from the Colorado River, and most Coconino records are from fall and winter. So, this was a neat unusual sighting and a beautiful bird.
