Sky Islands trip

I traveled to the Chiricahua, Huachuca and Santa Rita mountains last weekend with BB Oros and Kathy Schroeck. The birding was good and we had a great time even though we flopped on the Eared Quetzal after searching for 2 days. Also missed the Crescent-chested Warbler, both birds being lifers for BB and Kathy.

We did enjoy fantastic looks at birds that I haven't seen in 15-25 years. Here's a list of the most notable birds:

Montezuma Quail
Whiskered Screech Owl
Mexican Spotted Owl
Mexican Whip-poor-Will
Blue-throated Mountain Gem
Lucifer Hummingbird
White-eared Hummingbird
Berylline Hummingbird
Elegant Trogon
Arizona Woodpecker
Sulfur-bellied Flycatcher
Mexican Chickadee
Five-striped Sparrow
Yellow-eyed Junco

Although no lifers or state birds for me, it didn't matter at all, I had a blast.
